This Isn't Just Any Old Crib...

Every so often (and in my case, it just so happens to be very often), you're reminded of just how awesome your parents are.

This past weekend was no exception.

After spending quality time with them on Saturday (doing laundry, eating delicious homemade chile verde...you know, the usual), they came up to San Francisco on Sunday to help with a relatively significant event...and by relatively, I mean hugely...they came up to help assemble little Miss Abigail's crib.

The best part?

This isn't just any old crib.

This is the crib my brother used as a baby.  This is the crib I used as a baby.

The bedding you'll see is the bedding I slept in as a baby...and while my Mom and I plan on sewing Abby her own custom bedding in the coming weeks (once we find the perfect fabric), my parents brought the vintage set to show us just how beautiful this crib is when it's all set up...

My parents have kept this sucker ALLLLL these years in hopes that one day my brother and I would love it just as much as they did.  And I am SO glad they did.

Not only does it hold special meaning to all of us, but it just so happens to be the most precious and unique crib I've seen in a long time (I'm aware I'm biased).  The canopy is adorable. The wood is beautiful. The sturdiness is unparalleled.  (And for those of you who are curious as to whether or not it passes today's safety standards, my parents double checked and I'm happy to report that it passes with flying colors!)

Not bad for something purchased in 1981...

Needless to say, Abigail is going to be one happy baby in this extra special crib...and she'll have my absolutely amazing parents to thank for it.

Mom and Dad, thanks for being the best parents on the face of the earth...I/we have a LOT to live up to!

Oh...and after we set the crib up, we couldn't help ourselves and did what we do best - we had a little fun with Squid and some of Abby's new items...ENJOY!

Mom & Dad (or shall I say Gram & Gramps...haha) added the mattress
The crew at work - I made for a very good supervisor and photographer!
Travis is obviously working very hard as well...
Awww...Family!
The men working on the Canopy
Even little Momma got in there!
It's all coming together!
Perfection
In no time at all we'll have a little baby in there!
Thumbs up! We're excited!
Travis practicing on Squid...
Haha...Nina, not sure if this is what you had in mind for the dress...
Moving right along to the Giants gear...
And the Stanford booties...
And now Squid is just getting scary...bottle, hat, washcloth...
Just in case that wasn't enough...little piggy wanted to be included as well!
Pretty in Pink!

I especially love the pink pig wearing the sneakers and the book on raising parents! ;-)
