For Travis' 31st Birthday, his family pitched in and gifted him an amazing juicer (I have a feeling they don't think we eat enough fruit and vegetables which, let's be honest, is probably the truth!). After having the expert (Amaya, Travis' sister) teach us how to use it last weekend, we decided to give it a whirl ourselves...
Here are some pictures of our attempt at Juicing this weekend without the expert...
To be 100% honest, our juice was nowhere near as good as what Amaya concocted the weekend prior (we're pretty sure we were missing citrus or something to give it that extra kick), but we had a blast making it, had an easy time cleaning it, and felt very healthy consuming it!
Big thanks to the Cunningham-James family!
If you have any Juice blends you'd recommend, PLEASE share them! I'm telling you...we need help!
Wow! What a brilliant photo and a yummy looking concoction. We're tickled "bright red" that you're enjoying the juicer. Amaya does have a magical touch with her culinary experiments.
ReplyDeleteThe juice looks delicious! Anything fresh is delicious.
ReplyDeleteYeah for juicing!! I’m so glad you guys are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteThe trick?? I usually peel, wash, and core all the produce and try for very fresh, organic (when necessary) and in season (if possible). However most produce that is thick skinned does not need to be organic and the Environmental Working Group EWG) has a top twelve best and worst list for pesticides in produce that is helpful when selecting produce: http://www.foodnews.org/walletguide.php.
My favorite blends:
Carrots, Apple, Beet, Spinach, Ginger
Carrots, Kale, Beets, Potato, Celery, Garlic, Cayenne Pepper
Carrots, Watermelon, Beets, Apple, Ginger
Carrots, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Garlic, Cayenne Pepper
But I don’t always stick to recipes, I juice what I have on hand and what I’m feeling like for the day!
Juicing = Awesome
I know you like the fruits more than the veggie juices, so maybe next time try pineapple in your blend. We used pears, apples, watermelon and pineapple last time, maybe that the kick you were missing??
ReplyDeleteHappy juicing!
