Sunday Cravings: Fresh Fruit Juice

For Travis' 31st Birthday, his family pitched in and gifted him an amazing juicer (I have a feeling they don't think we eat enough fruit and vegetables which, let's be honest, is probably the truth!).  After having the expert (Amaya, Travis' sister) teach us how to use it last weekend, we decided to give it a whirl ourselves...

Here are some pictures of our attempt at Juicing this weekend without the expert...

To be 100% honest, our juice was nowhere near as good as what Amaya concocted the weekend prior (we're pretty sure we were missing citrus or something to give it that extra kick), but we had a blast making it, had an easy time cleaning it, and felt very healthy consuming it!

Big thanks to the Cunningham-James family!

If you have any Juice blends you'd recommend, PLEASE share them!  I'm telling you...we need help!

7x7xDaddy...

Today I'd like to pose a very simple question to all you readers out there:

Who would like to hear 7x7xDaddy's take on this whole baby thing?

I'm pretty sure that if we have enough interest, he might be willing to make an appearance here on 7x7xMommy...and I'm sure he'll have some interesting things to say (and probably make fun of me in the process - he's very good at that)...

But I think it'll take a little encouragement...so help me out, everyone...if you want to hear from him, leave a comment encouraging him or send a question you'd like him to answer (you're just not allowed to ask, "Is 7x7xMommy insane!?!").

The Bump Report: Week 28

Time is flying...the Giants won the World Series...Abby is moving around like a mini-maniac in my belly (I'm convinced she's on a mission to turn my innie belly button into an outie)...and it's officially time to focus on a new sport and my first love - Basketball.

You see, now that the Giants have taken care of business it's time to dedicate my TV viewing time to the Golden State Warriors...luckily, my child size Warriors zip-up hoodie still fits...we'll see how long that lasts (probably until Abby transforms into something other than an Eggplant!!!).

Nothing new to report in Bump land.  I think we'll be making some progress in the nursery this weekend by setting up the crib, so stay tuned for that.

Until then, heeeeeeeeeere's Abby!

Special Delivery for Baby Abby!

Abby received a mighty special package in the mail the other day from her 8 month old twin cousins, Alyssa Grace and Kylie Paige (who you were lucky enough to "meet" back at Week 20).  Their Mommy (and my cousin - check out her blog here) not only filled a care package with baby bottles and other goodies, but she sewed Abby her very first dress...

Being that neither of us could squeeze into it to show it off (we may or may not have tried...), Travis and I found the PERFECT fit model to test out Abby's new look...

How precious is this dress!?!

A HUGE thank you to Nina, Russell, Alyssa & Kylie - you truly made our day and it makes us even MORE excited for Abby to arrive (so that Mommy can dress her up like a little princess)!!!

Victory…Black & Orange Style

Who won the World Series in 2010???

Oh that’s right…the GIANTS did!!!

Needless to say, Giants fans have been doing their fair share of celebrating this week…streets have been shut down, cars won’t stop honking, champagne hasn’t stop flowing, and people have never been more proud to wear their Black & Orange.

And today, Wednesday November 3, 2010, marks another special event – the Giants VICTORY Parade.  While I no longer work downtown or along the route of the Parade (bummer!), I did take a detour on my morning walk to check things out.

Here are some of the sights I saw…

All I have to say is GO GIANTS and Abby is ready to be the BIGGEST fan in 2011…she’s already been one heck of a fan in 2010!

Top 10 Tips for Pregnancy & (Impending) Parenthood

Here's the latest and greatest over at TapMommies...

*********************************
Never in a million years did I think I would receive so much advice on Pregnancy and Parenthood in such a short amount of time.  It’s going to be hard to narrow down my favorites, but here goes nothing…

1. Buy a Belly Band
You’ll never know how amazing an elastic tube around your belly feels until you’ve purchased a Belly Band.  I’d buy one or two of these right away because you never know when that magical day will arrive…that magical day being the one where you can no longer button your pants (or zip your zipper for that matter).  As I close in on Week 27, I’m still able to squeeze into (some) pre-pregnancy jeans thanks to my Belly Band!

2.  Purchase Some Peace of Mind
Others may refer to this as Stretch Mark Cream, but since I believe stretch marks are hereditary, I can’t actually say I believe these creams reverse any physical effects of Pregnancy.  That being said, when I received my weekly email from The Bump at Week 21 that stated, “Gasp...is that a stretch mark?!! Take deep breaths and remember -- they'll fade after delivery,” I was a little freaked out.  After receiving tons of advice on various creams, I invested in Mother’s Special Blend, a firming oil found at Whole Foods.  Six weeks later, I’m still stretch-mark free and extremely happy I made the investment (whether or not it actually does anything!).

Every Mom I know has highly recommend signing up for the GGMG. The group helps connect you with other Moms, they host events, offer Volunteering opportunities (which I’m interested in), and help facilitate Playgroups. I signed up yesterday!

The name alone has me sold…but more than that, we’ve heard that the advice given in these books and on the DVD are invaluable and might even increase the number of hours we’ll sleep. Ummm…yes please!

5. Don’t buy Baby Clothes
From the moment we told our friends and family we were Pregnant, we were given the following advice: “You do not need to buy baby clothes – that’s what everyone will gift you!”  And let me tell you – they couldn’t have been more accurate.  We’re still three months away from Abby entering the World and we have a dresser FULL of baby clothes, none of which we purchased (other than some frivolous San Francisco Giants outfits for next season!!!).

6. Purchase a Swing
While we haven’t registered yet, we do know one item that will be at the top of our list – a Swing.  Literally every couple we’ve talked to so far has claimed that a swing can save your life…I’m ALL about saving lives, so sign me up!

7. Learn how to Wrap a Burrito (aka – Swaddle)
This one comes courtesy of my Dad who is a self-proclaimed “professional Swaddler”. His Swaddling experience goes back many years to when he’d wrap me up like a little burrito.  Not only did I love it, but HE loved it.   It’s a great way for Dads to get involved.  And knowing how much Travis loves Burritos, I imagine he’ll be an expert in no time!

8. Discover the Brilliance of Soothies
Although pacifiers may not be for everyone, we’ve been told that the best of the best are called Soothies. We can literally say that every baby we know has been spotted with one in his/her mouth (though please keep in mind we know two babies…).

9. Invest in an AMAZING Breast Pump
Why skimp on something you’ll spend so much time on? Every Mommy I’ve spoken to has recommended that I purchase not just any breast pump, but a GREAT breast pump…and that’s precisely what I intend to do!

10. Go on a Babymoon
I saved the best for last.  Before baby arrives, go on a Vacation (or multiple Vacations) with your significant other!  Travis and I have had an amazing year of travel (Costa Rica, Hawaii, Atlanta, Seattle, etc.) and we’ve labeled each trip (other than our Honeymoon) a “Babymoon”…they’re truly invaluable and more than anything, they’re a BLAST!
This list could obviously go on and on but those are my favorite tips…thus far!

Spotted...Giants Fever!!!

With only one win needed for the Giants to clinch the World Series title, did you really think I was going to "Spot" anything unrelated to the Black & Orange today?  I think not...

As you all know by now, I walk through Union Square every morning and this morning I was pleasantly surprised by the hard-to-miss Giants support splattered all over Macy's - I even managed to capture a Cable Car just in case you needed a little extra San Francisco spirit!

There's a buzz about the City and it's truly magical...this is OUR YEAR!

Are you wearing your black and orange today???

GO GIANTS!
